White Person Privilege

White Person Privilege

White Person: How does the world see a White Person:

In this article, I want to share my experience of how the world sees a White Person.

I’ve traveled quite few and have been to more than 30 countries; Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America.

I have seen how a (non-White) person is treated compared to someone who is not White.

The world perceives a White Person as the absolute superhuman; with an absolute intelligence, abilities, wealth, resources, and power.

Thus, they give the White Person a privilege that they don’t give to people of other colors.

Due to my travel experience, on several occasions, I have seen how I was treated compared to a White Person.

To make it clear, I am not a White Person.

I’ll share with you a few incidents that occurred to me several times, in different locations.

First incident:

Some airlines have stewardesses at the door of the aircraft to greet their passengers as they board.

There were several occasions where I was not greeted, but the White Person in front of me, or behind me, was greeted.

I’ve noticed this on several different airlines. Shame on them.

Second incident:

A while back in my college years, I was at a FedEx location, in line, waiting for my turn to be served.

There were a few people behind me.

This was in a small town called Greeley, Colorado; where people of color were a small number.

I was next in line to be called, but the FedEx clerk did not call me; she skipped me deliberately and rather called the White Person behind me. She totally ignored me.

I was stunned. I said to the clerk “Excuse me, I was next in line.” At first, she ignored me and did not respond.

I repeated myself “Excuse me, I was next in line.”  “I didn’t see you” she replied; as if I were invisible in her eyes.

That was her disgraceful & disgusting statement. She claimed she didn’t see me, but she saw the White Person behind me.

Can you imagine the hatred and racism she had in her heart?

Third incident:

After I graduated high school, I moved to a small town called Willmar, Minnesota. I was young, I didn’t know how to handle money properly.

What I would do was, fold my money and put it in my wallet. One day I went to Wells Fargo bank to deposit some cash.

When I took the money out and gave it to the teller, she said “You people, why you do this to your money.” Pay attention to the “you people” part.

I was offended and did not like that she made that statement.

I immediately asked to speak to the bank manager and filed a complaint against that teller.

Fourth incident:

I went to a restaurant in Malaysia and was waiting to be seated. I and other people were standing, and all of us were waiting to be seated.

There was a White Person in the line who also was waiting to be seated, like everyone else. The server comes, skips everyone, and calls the White Person so she can seat him.

I look at the server, all confused. I could not stay quiet, I had to say something. “Excuse me, don’t you see the line. We were here before him.” I cried.

She didn’t respond. “Excuse me,” I said this time a little louder with more stern voice to make sure she heard me.

“There is a line here, why are you skipping us.” She replied by saying “he is special guest.”  “What you mean special guest?” I asked. She just ignored me and walked away.

This experience upset me.  I demanded to speak to the manager, which I did and left right after without ordering anything.

I am not going to spend my money in a place where they don’t respect me, and exhibit racism.

Fifth incident:

I booked a hotel online in Bali. I took a Grab, which is a rideshare similar to Uber.

I went to my hotel and checked in.

The receptionist asked for my passport and told me the hotel was full.

I told him “But I booked online, why would it let me make a reservation if it is full?” He said, “I’m sorry, there is a problem with the system.”

Mind you that I just landed from a long flight, and was super tired. I just needed to get a room, shower, and rest. But that didn’t happen here.

Anyways, he tells me “No rooms available.” So, I take a seat in the lobby and start looking for another hotel on my phone.

While I’m sitting, two White, European, persons came to check-in. I started paying attention to see what would happen.

The receptionist takes their passport and asks them for cash to pay for a room, and he gives them a key to a room.

I saw all this. “Oh no,” I thought to myself. I got up immediately and went to the receptionist and told him “Didn’t you tell me you don’t have a room available? Why did you give them a room?” He replied, “A room just opened up.”

I responded, “Then why didn’t you tell me; I was here before them.” I added, “You told me it’s full, no vacancy.”

I ordered Grab and left there; went into Google reviews, and left them a negative, one-star, review.

There are more examples that I can give that happened to me personally. Asians, Africans, and Arabs see White persons as an absolute human being deserving special treatment.

They break rules and go above and beyond to make the White Person happy. They give the White Person special privileges and treat their own kind with disrespect.

This is the mentality they have. They don’t know any better. They believe the White Person will come to save them or take them to heaven. This is an awful mentality.

All people should be treated the same way. Everyone deserves respect and dignity.

The whole point I am trying to make is that the world gives the White Person a special privilege, a better treatment, a special respect and this is absolutely wrong.

This is called favoritism, and in some countries it is illegal.

No one is better than others. No one is above another. No one should have special treatment.

Racism, favoritism, nepotism, and cronyism are the thought processes of ignorant people, who lack proper training, and who don’t have laws and systems.

Everyone deserves the same treatment. If you treat someone better because of how they look, or due to their status then you need to be fired. Your employer needs to get rid of you.

That is why, it’s crucial for employers to provide outstanding training to their employees.

So, their staff knows how to treat everyone the same way, regardless of their race, religion, gender, age, etc.

White Persons are not better than Black Persons, Arab, Asian, Hispanic, or Indian. We all are humans.

We all have blood. We all have feelings. We all have emotions. We all have intelligence. We all have our strengths and weaknesses. We all have flaws. We all are humans.

Conclusion:

If you are Asian, Indian, Arab, African, or Hispanic – STOP giving special treatment to a White Person.

Trust me, a White Person doesn’t want special treatment, I heard this with my own ears at Manila airport.

Always, treat everyone with respect and dignity.

By default, all human beings deserve respect; there is no need to favor one race over another.

What goes around, comes around. If you treat someone bad, then someone else will treat you bad. I’m sure you don’t want that.
