Introduction:
The life of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, not only serves as a spiritual guide for millions around the world but also offers a comprehensive perspective on various aspects of life, including health and well-being. The Prophet’s teachings on medicine, known as the “Medicine of the Prophet,” provide valuable insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This article explores some key aspects of the Medicine of the Prophet, drawing from authentic sources.
The medical care provided by physicians and doctors is not the same as prophetic medicine. Prophetic medicine, when combined with a sound and flawless mind, is the efficient treatment and cure made possible by the revelation and guidance of the Prophet Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam. On the other hand, most of the treatments that other people recommend are based on conjecture, observation, and testing. Since prophetic medicine only helps those who realise and have confidence in it, it is a truth that many individuals do not benefit from it.
Prophet(PBUH) said: There is a remedy in the Quran and honey.
Honey as a Healing Agent:
The Prophet highly praised honey for its medicinal properties. He said, “Make use of the two cures: honey and the Quran.” Honey was recommended for various ailments, and it is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
The structure of honey making is explained in the Quran. The prophet(s) used it to treat loose motion, and by utilising it on a regular basis, he stabilised his health. Honey was the best ingredient for liquidised dishes. A man approached the Prophet and stated, “My brother is complaining about diarrhoea,” according to Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri. According to the Prophet (s), “Give him some honey.” Due to its ability to flush out toxic compounds that may accumulate in the intestines and veins, honey has great medical benefit. In addition, honey works well as an ointment, a drink, and a way to dissolve extra moisture. It treats ulcers, fatigue, and other illnesses.
According to Ibn Qayyim al-Jouzi, “drinking honey with water will dissolve kidney stones that appear.”
Many beneficial nutrients, including salt, potassium, calcium, copper, and others, have been found in honey by contemporary research. According to the study, giving rats with induced diabetes honey every day for three weeks significantly lowered their blood glucose levels.
